BACARDÍ once again brought the #SoundOfRum to the Governors Ball Music Festival this year with BACARDÍ Bay at Randall’s Island in Manhattan.
This past weekend, BACARDÍ opened its doors to BACARDÍ Bay, an exclusive island-inspired event space featuring surprise performances, stunts, dance battles, refreshing cocktails, day boat charging stations, hammocks and a two-story bar with the best views at Governors Ball. Each day, DJs serenaded BACARDÍ Bay attendees with sets from Nothing Matters on Friday, Hundreds Thousands on Saturday, and Slug Father on Sunday. Also, festivalgoers at BACARDÍ Bay were treated to interactive screen printed tattoos in summery patterns and neon colors, in addition to a bespoke Caribbean-inspired cocktail experience.
BACARDÍ Bay served signature cocktails like the Gov Ball Punch, made with BACARDÍs newest flavor innovation – Lime, watermelon liqueur, fresh lime juice, simple syrup and soda water; and the Rum N Go, made with BACARDÍ Major Lazer Rum, coffee liqueur, guava puree, Monin Vanilla syrup and cold brew coffee, all weekend long.
Next door on the BACARDÍ Stage, weekend headliners at the BACARDÍ stage included Lil Wayne, Zhu, and Beast Coast comprised of Joey Bada$$ and Flatbush Zombies. Lil Wayne closed out the first night of Governors Ball on Friday with a roaring crowd, playing a mix of his new and old hits which included “Lollipop,” “A Milli,” “Uproar,” “I'm Goin' In,” “Mrs. Officer,” “HYFR,” and more. Lil Wayne was decked out in Gucci from head to toe for his performance.
On Saturday, Zhu performed a 75-minute fade-into-darkness set to an electric crowd. The set, which included hits like “Working For It,” “Faded,” “Life,” and more, also featured a sultry sax solo to complete the sunset performance. Aside from the performances, BACARDÍ Bay got a special visit from the infamous Lazer Gyals – Sara, Helen, Nita and Jay – who enjoyed a round of BACARDÍ cocktails before Major Lazer’s set later that night. Major Lazer has been a BACARDÍ #SoundofRum partner since 2017.
In the Best Kept Secret at Governors Ball, BACARDÍ Legacy Global Cocktail Competition 2016 winner, Gn Chan, served elevated and unique BACARDÍ cocktails out of his signature 1977 yellow Volkswagen Camper at the Double Chicken Please pop-up. Cocktails included Rock’N’Banana made with BACARDÍ Añejo Cuatro rum, as well as Little Yellow Sunshine and Waldorf Salad made with BACARDÍ Lime flavored rum.
Additional musical performances on the BACARDÍ Stage over the weekend included Jessie Reyez, Blood Orange, Bazzi, Cautious Clay, and more.
